Mary Christina (Connell) Nally, 91, of Carbondale, PA, passed away peacefully in her home on September 24, 2025.
Born in Bronx, New York City, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. Connell, Carrigallen, Co. Lietrim Ireland and the late Mary Christina Devlin, Ahascragh, Co. Galway Ireland. She spent her early life living in Carrigallen, Ireland, before moving back to the Bronx, NYC. She attended and graduated from the NYC Parochial School System in early 1950's before working full time for Bell Telephone of New York. She met her future husband, John F. Nally, Jr. when on a trip with her friend to Carbondale, PA. They married a year later and raised a large family. They were parishioners of St. Rose of Lima Church in Carbondale. Mary also worked in administration for Attorney William Purcell of Carbondale. Mary's greatest joy in life came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all love and support from the homecare providers, hospice workers, physicians, friends, and family.
Mary is survived by her children: Patrick Nally (Janet), Michael Nally (Jenny), Eileen Nally (Keith) and Christopher Nally (Theresa); her grandchildren: Colin (Kaisa), Meghan, Robyn (Ryan), Michael, Thomas, Jaclyn, Katie (Mike), Brandon (fiancé Taylor), Maria (fiancé Nick), and Riley; her great-grandchildren: Allyssah, Caylheb, Landhyn, Mylhes, Jett, Mila and Callen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her husband: John Francis Nally, Jr.; son: John Francis Nally, III.; and daughter: Mary Christina Nally.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, PA, celebrated by Rev. Stephen Brenyah, parochial vicar. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. The Mass was livestreamed from the funeral home's Facebook page. The family received friends Friday, October 24, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the church.
