Mary L. Merritt, age 94, of Union Dale, PA., died Saturday evening, September 7, 2013 at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA. She was the wife of the late William F. Merritt, who died October 28, 1980. Born April 15, 1919 in Gelatt, PA., she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Pauline (Warzcha) Konsur. In 1951, Mary and her husband William started Merritt's Mountain Top Dairy Farm, Union Dale which is now run by her grandson Bill. She was a member of St. Martin of Tours Church, Jackson and devoted her life to her family and their farm. She is survived by two sons: Kenneth W. Merritt and wife Debra of Union Dale, PA and Stanley J. Merritt and wife Jane of Gilbertsville, PA.; four grandchildren: Bill Merritt and wife Christa, Jim, Laura and Tori Merritt; two great grandchildren: Wyatt and Winter Merritt; one sister: Helen Kovell of Summerville, NJ.; one brother: Walter Konsur of Gelatt, PA; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Edna Dulina and Josephine Konsur; two brothers: John and Stanley Konsur. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM in St. Martin of Tours Church, corner of Routes 92 and 492, Jackson, PA., celebrated by Rev. David W. Cramer, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Stanley Merritt, James Merritt, William Merritt, Richard Dulinna, Ken Casterline and Patrick Casterline. Friends called Friday, September 13, 2013 from 6-8 PM at the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA. and Saturday, September 14, 2013 from 9-10 AM at the church.
