Mary C. McAndrew, 79, of Carbondale, PA., died Thursday afternoon, March 11, 2010 at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. She was the wife of the late Joseph C. McAndrew who died on August 24, 1964.
Born August 9, 1930 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Kelly) Connell.
She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale and prior to her retirement she had been employed as an inspector in the optics department at Gentex in Simpson, PA.
She loved the polkas, Irish music and the New York Yankees.
She is survived by four children: Mary Jo Nayduch and husband Basil of Middletown, PA., Frances McAndrew and companion Peter Smith of Carbondale, PA.; David McAndrew of Simpson, PA. and John McAndrew and companion Marion Hoffman of Waymart, PA.; eight grandchildren: Jason and Joshua Nayduch, Jessica Smith, Jennifer, Joseph, Kristy, Nathan and Sean McAndrew; three great grandchildren: Sarah and Vanessa Sawyer and Matthew; two sisters: Anne Tolerico of Peckville, PA. and Josephine Marsden of Carbondale, PA.; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother: Jack Connell; one sister: Kathryn Connell.
The funeral was held Monday, March 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Jason Nayduch, Joshua Nayduch, Sean McAndrew, Joseph McAndrew, Robert Machiesky, Harry Vansant, John Phillip Tolerico and Raymond Tolerico.
Friends called Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 4-8 PM.
