Mary J. Hunter, 94, formerly of 182 Washington Street, Carbondale, PA., died Monday night, December 12, 2011 at the Carbondale Nursing and Rehab Center, Carbondale, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth T. Hunter, who died on August 8,1985. Born November 21, 1917 in Carbondale, PA., she was daughter of the late Joseph and Amanda Weaver Miles. She was of the Presbyterian faith. Nothing in life gave her more pleasure than being a caregiver to her family. She also enjoyed playing bingo, watching boxing and she was an avid NY Yankees fan. She is survived by one daughter: Elizabeth Betty Parry of Kingsley, PA.; two sons: Kenneth W. Hunter of Hamlin, PA. and Allen Hunter of Carbondale, PA.; one sister: Martha Miller of Carbondale, PA.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Wesley, Jack, Gilbert, Bill and George Miles: two sisters: Venita Morris and Elizabeth Nowacki. The funeral was held Friday, December 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with Rev. John Hardman-Zimmermen, chaplain of Southern Care Hospice, officiating. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA. Friends called Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 3-7 PM and Friday, December 16, 2011 from 10:00 AM till time of service.
