Mary E. Granville, age 84, formerly of 59 7th Avenue, Carbondale, Pennsylvania died Thursday, February 27, 2003, at The Laurels Of Willow Creek Nursing Home, Midlothian, Virginia. She was the wife of Walter J. Granville, Sr., who died November 2, 1999.
Born May 17, 1918 in Carbondale, PA. She was the daughter of the late Bernard and Anna (Baker) Barrett.
Following the death of her husband she moved to Atlanta, Georgia and then Richmond, Virginia to be closer to her son. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by one daughter: Margaret A. Granville of Afton Township, PA.; one son: Walter J. Granville, Jr. of Richmond, VA.; two sisters: Helen Gallick of Carbondale, PA. and Theresa Wagner of Telford, PA.; one brother: John Barrett of Carbondale, PA.; 7 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; Many Nieces Nephews
She was preceded in death by one son: Harry J. Granville; two brothers: Bernard Barrett and Joseph Barrett
The funeral was held Saturday, March 8, 2003, at 9:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Rose Of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by the Rev. Thomas J. McDermott, assistant pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Viewing was held Friday, March 7, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9.
