Mary Bodner, 97, of Lenox Township, PA, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at home. She was the wife of the late Michael Bodner, who died July 8, 1990.
Born July 7, 1918 in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Sophie Ruszkiewicz. Although a longtime resident of Jersey City, NJ, Pennsylvania truly became her home. The countryside inspired her love of nature, gardening and open space. The community of friends, neighbors and acquaintances became her "family" away from family and we are all especially grateful to them for the friendship, love and support provided to her throughout the years. Mary was a member of St. John Vianney Parish, Royal and Montdale, PA.
She is survived by six daughters: Magdalene and husband Albert, Cecilia and husband Arthur, Agatha and husband Joseph, Winifred and husband Thomas, Monica and husband Raymond and Daria and companion Peter; two sons: Michael and wife Nancy and Daniel and wife Karen; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Route 106, Royal, PA, celebrated by Rev. Michael J. Kirwin, pastor. Interment took place on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11:45 a.m. in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford. PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations were sent to the donor's favorite charity.
