Mary A. Alex, 89, of Carbondale, PA., died Wednesday night, September 11, 2013 at Creekside Health and Rehab Center, Carbondale, PA. Born January 23, 1924 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Banuik Alex. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale and the Rosary Circle. She was a 1941 graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and prior to her retirement was employed as a sewing machine operator at Penn Children's and several other local dress factories. She is survived by one brother: Florian James Alex of Mount Laurel, NJ.; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister: Helen Andrews; two brothers: Stanley and Edward Alex. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 10:30 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Msgr. David L. Tressler, pastor. Interment, Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, East Jermyn, PA. Friends called Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 10:00 - 10:30 AM at the church. Arrangements were entrusted to the Edward A.
