May 25, 1942 – May 30, 2025
Marvin E. Price, 83, of Scranton, PA, and formerly of Lenoxville, PA, ascended peacefully to Heaven on May 30, 2025 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA, after a prolonged illness. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 61 years, the former Judy Ann Barber on January 1, 2025.
Born May 25, 1942 in Peckville, PA, but raised in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Millard and Mildred Evans Price.
Marvin was a faithful Christian and was a former member of both the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale and the Lenoxville United Methodist Church. He had been employed as a produce manager for IGA Markets and later retired from Weis Markets. He was a life-long, diehard N.Y Yankees and Mickey Mantle fan, loved Country and Gospel music as well as Billy Graham sermons.
He is survived by his four children: Jeffrey E. Price of Scranton, PA, Heather Lynne Adams and husband, Todd of Montrose, PA, David S. Price and wife, Amber Bosco Price of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Shannon Ackroyd and husband, Paul of Archbald, PA; two grandsons: Michael Price and Brayden Ackroyd; four sisters: Pearl Urda, Millie Smith, Shirley Cherinchak and Bonnie Owens; a sister-ln-law: Connie Stern and husband, Fred; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister: Patricia Eldred.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Allied Services Skilled Nursing in Scranton for the kindness, loving care, and friendship given to our dad over the past three years.
The funeral was held Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, with Rev. Bonnie Resseguie, officiating. Interment services for Marvin and Judy followed at the Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA. The service was livestreamed on the funeral home's web site. Friends called Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggested donations in his memory to the American Heart Association, the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale or the Lenoxville United Methodist Church.
