Martha M. Dennis, age 67, formerly of New Jersey and Stillwater, PA., and a resident of the Brookside Personal Care Home, South Sterling, PA., for the past ten years, died Tuesday morning, March 20, 2012 at the nursing home. She was the wife of the late Carl Irving Dennis who died August 7, 1999. Born June 4, 1944 in Plainwell, MI., she was the daughter of the late Alfred F. and Margery E. (Glessner) Foster. She was a student of the first graduating class of Sparta High School, Sparta, NJ. in 1962. She was of the Methodist faith, enjoyed baking and was famous for her delicious homemade apple pies. She was also a talented artist and took great pride in her paintings. She is survived by two daughters: Brenda Buckley and husband Paul of Hopatcong, NJ. and Erin Hubbard and husband Pete of Honesdale, PA.; one son: Shaughnessy Carl Dennis; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two sisters: Patricia Sweeley and Alice Foster; one brother: Jack Foster; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter: Samantha Hubbard. A memorial service was held Friday, March 23, 2012 at 12:00 PM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA., celebrated by Rev. Doug Posegate, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Carbondale.
