Obituary

Mark J. Konopka, 38, of Carbondale, PA, died Tuesday afternoon, July 21, 2015 from an apparent heart attack in the emergency department at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. His wife is the former MaryBeth Zaccone. They were married September 13, 2008. Born November 1, 1976 in Scranton, PA, he is the son of Anne (Colangelo) Konopka of Madison Township, PA and the late Leonard Konopka. Mark was a 1995 graduate of North Pocono High School and currently worked at Cardinal LG, Jessup, PA, as a maintenance mechanic. Prior to that, he worked at Gentex Corporation, Simpson, PA, for 10 years where he met his wife. He is survived by a sister: Christine Yazurlo of Madison Township, PA; father and mother-in-law: Thomas and Lori Zaccone of Carbondale, PA; two sisters-in-law: Samantha Zaccone of Albany, NY and Angela Zaccone of Carbondale, PA several aunts, uncles and cousins. A blessing service was held Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, PA, by Rev. Joseph Sica, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, Scranton, PA, officiating. Friends called Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. The family requested that no flowers were sent.
