Marilyn Virkitis, 67, of Clifford Township, PA., died unexpectedly Thursday morning, February 11, 2010 at home. She was the wife of Andrew Virkitis. They were married May 12, 1962.
Born April 20, 1942 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Paul Sealey and the late Mary Best Sealey Panfili.
She was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family.
She is survived by one son: Rick Virkitis and wife Pat of Richmondale, PA.; two daughters: Cheryl Wise and husband John of Lebanon, PA. and Kristal Virkitis at home; three grandchildren: Colin Virkitis, Colby and Nickole Wise; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter: Lori Virkitis; two brothers: Roger and Joseph Sealey.
The funeral was held Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 8:30 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA., with Committal prayers by Msgr. David Tressler, pastor of St. Rose of Lima Church.
Pallbearers: Neal Robinson, Rick Virkitis, John Wise, Jeremy Lutz, Greg Sparaney and John Cummings.
Friends called Monday, February 15, 2010 from 4-8 PM.
