Marie Annette Wagner, age 75, of Newton Lake, PA. and formerly of Carbondale, PA., died Tuesday afternoon, June 8, 2010, at the VNA Hospice at Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA., after an illness. She was the wife of Walter Wagner for 56 years.
Born July 28, 1934 in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Minnie (Brown) Sexton.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was very religious and devoted to the Blessed Mother. She enjoyed bingo and participated her time to the Boy Girl Scouts in Carbondale. The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to all of the nurses and aides of the VNA Hospice at Community Medical Center for their kindness and compassion during these difficult times and for the pastoral care that was given through the years.
She is survived by one daughter: Terrie Locker and husband Paul; one son: Michael Wagner and wife Vicki; one sister: Dorothy Yarbrough; six grandchildren: Jennifer, Michael, John, Mandi, Paul and Nicole; seven great grandchildren: Shayne, Seth, Emmalee, Noah, Kayla, Derek and Greyson; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother: Ralph Sexton; four sisters: Peggy Jones, Betty Turner, Geneva and Shirley Sexton.
The funeral was held Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Rev. Art Davis, officiating. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Friends called Friday, June 11, 2010 from 4-8 PM.
Arrangements were under the care of the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale.
