Marie E. Verbrugge, 85, of Greenfield Township, PA, died suddenly on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in the emergency room at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of Frank Verbrugge. The couple celebrated 66 years of marriage on September 9th. Born in Paterson, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Marie Shields Touw. Marie was employed as a legal secretary for many years and retired from New Jersey Superior Court where she served as judicial secretary to Judge Frank Donato. She resided in Greenfield Township for the past 22 years and was a member of the Clifford United Methodist Church where she was a volunteer for church dinners and served as substitute organist. She is survived by a daughter: Eleen Jamison and husband Al of Greenfield Township, PA; four grandchildren: Kristi Aurelien, Suzanne Longfield, Stephen Jamison and Vanessa Patterson; 7 great grandchildren; three brothers: Martin Touw of Towaco, NJ, William Touw of West Milford, NJ and Henry Touw of North Haledon, NJ; several nieces and nephews. As per Marie's request she was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a future date. Arrangements by Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
