Marie A. Mecca, 83, of Carbondale, PA., died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, August 27, 2009 at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. She was the wife of the late Angelo A. Mecca who died September 2, 2006. They had been happily married for 56 years. Born October 8, 1925 in Carbondale, PA., she was the daughter of the late Serafine and Serafina (Fabiano) Tolerico of Carbondale.She was a 1943 graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and was a life long professional seamstress. She had been a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale.Marie was an avid baker of many delicacies, especially her Italian cookies which she enjoyed sharing with all she knew. She loved her two daughters and their families with all her heart and enjoyed sharing time with them at home and on her special trips to Atlantic City. Marie also enjoyed her days at the St. Rose Church bingo and was an extremely affectionate woman and devout Catholic, who loved sharing her life with everyone who she came in contact with. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life and she was very proud of all of their accomplishments. The family would like to thank the staff of Marian Community Hospital for their wonderful care given during her stay at their facility. She is survived by two daughters: Rosemarie and husband Robert W. Pollish, Jr. of Carbondale, PA. and Diane and husband Paul Lemoncelli of Clarks Summit, PA.; four grandchildren: Michael Motsay of Harrisburg, PA., P.J., Joseph and Gina Lemoncelli all of Clarks Summit, PA.; two step grandchildren: Robert (Bobby) Pollish, III. of Carbondale, PA. and Justine Pollish of Clarks Summit, PA.; one aunt: Giovanna Fabiano of Carbondale, PA,; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by an infant son: Joseph; one brother: Frank Tolerico Sr., one nephew: Frank Tolerico, Jr.The funeral was held Monday, August 31, 2009 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Friends called Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 2-4 6-8 PM. Pallbearers: Grandsons: Michael Motsay, P.J. Lemoncelli, Joseph Lemoncelli and Robert Bobby Pollish, III., Nephews: Gerald Tolerico, Serafine Sar Tolerico, Joseph Mecca and Joseph Ghergo.
