Obituary

Marianne Juszczak (Baci), 101, of South Gibson, PA, died Monday, November 4, 2024 at Marywood Heights Skilled Nursing, Scranton, PA. She was the wife of the late Alex H. Juszczak who died September 18, 1981.

Born September 8, 1923 in Rostin, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Jadwiga Walewska Bugara.

Marianne and her family immigrated from Poland and France where she was a fashion designer. She earned a degree at a French school which turns out professionals in design and dressmaking. She had the privilege of designing and making clothes for Rita Hayworth.

Marianne was a devoted member of St. Patrick's Church, Nicholson, PA, and its Holy Rosary Society. She belonged to the Legion of Mary in which men and women would sanctify themselves through prayer and apostolic work in union with Our Lady under the guidance of a priest. She kindly sewed christening bibs for newborns and made rosaries for all of the children in Sunday School. She also gave communion to elderly parishioners at nursing homes and to shut-ins who could not attend church.

She enjoyed traveling, puzzles, collecting stamps and elephants, but most of all spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all the home caregivers, as well as the staff at Marywood Heights for their kind and compassionate care to Baci.

She is survived by one daughter: Aline J. Price and husband, Ordie of South Gibson, PA; three grandchildren: Ordie E. Price, III. and wife, Maria of Clifford Township, PA, Austin A. Price and wife, Miranda of South Gibson, PA and Lauren Price Ficarro of South Gibson, PA; eight great grandchildren: Ordie E. Price IV., Amber F. Price, Paul P. Price, Muriel E. Price, Emma A. Price, Alex J. Price, Jacob E. Ficarro and Adelyn R. Ficarro; one sister: Emily Younsi of New Britain, CT; one nephew: John Demmer Jr.; two nieces: Dorothy Demmer and Janie (Demmer) McKenna; and four great nephews and nieces: John, Alissa, Cullen and Kalee.

She was also preceded in death by her sister Helen Demmer of Brooklyn, PA.

A viewing was held Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 3-5 p.m. at the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, November 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 205 Main Street, Nicholson, PA, celebrated by Rev. Arbogaste Satoun, pastor, and Rev. John Polednak, V.E. A rosary service took place at 10:30 a.m. Interment, St. Patrick's Cemetery, Nicholson, PA.

Pallbearers: Ordie Price, III., Andrew Ficarro, Ordie Price, IV., Paul Price, Austin Price, Jacob Ficarro, Alex Price and Chris Burdick.

In lieu of flowers, donations were made to St. Patrick's Church, 205 Main Street, Nicholson, PA 18446, St. Jude's Children Research Center, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
