Maria Gramatopol, age 78, of Bucharest, Romania, died Wednesday evening, December 30, 2009 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. after being stricken ill at the home of her son in Lake Ariel, PA. She was the wife of the late Mihai Gramatopol, who died December 1, 2005. Born July 12, 1931 in Bucharest, Romania, she was the daughter of the late Nicolae and Elena Giurumescu. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as an engineer in the construction industry in Romania. She was a member of the Romanian Orthodox Church. She is survived by one son: Dinu I. Pietraru of Old Brookville, NY. and Lake Ariel, PA. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
