Margaret A. McDonald, 73, of Carbondale, PA., died Thursday night, July 26, 2007 at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Robert McDonald, Sr., who died March 9, 1989.
Born June 23, 1934 in Scranton, PA., she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Marion Smith Cornall. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and prior to her retirement, she was employed in the deli department at Weis Markets, Carbondale. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She is survived by two sons: Robert McDonald, Jr. and wife Sandi of Carbondale, PA. and Mark McDonald and wife Tina of Carbondale, PA; one daughter: Karen Bortree of Carbondale, PA.; 5 grandchildren: Courtney Megan McDonald and Stephanie, Craig Melissa Bortree all of Carbondale, PA.; Several Nieces Nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother: William Cornall. The funeral was held Monday, July 30, 2007 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.
Friends called Sunday, July 29, 2007 from 2-4 7-9 PM. Pallbearers: Edward Bortree, Gerald Shaffer, Nicholas Sopko, Paul McDonald, David Lynch and John Lynch.
