Margaret A. Boylan, 96. a resident of the Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA and formerly of Carbondale, PA, died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the nursing home. Born August 12, 1918 in Carbondale, PA.,she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Mary Frances Brennan Boylan. She proudly enlisted and served as a SPAR in the Coast Guard during World War II working in communications, which led her to a career at the Weston Corporation in Archbald, PA, as a switch board operator supervisor until her retirement. She was a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and attended the University of Scranton majoring in business and philosophy. She enjoyed traveling. Her family extends the most sincere thanks to the entire staff of Wayne Woodlands Manor for their seven years of professionalism, dedication, compassion and good natured spirit. She is survived by her niece and caregiver: Maureen Scott-Wasner of Carbondale, PA, as well as, several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother: Thomas Boylan and wife Eleanor Schaff; four sisters: Theresa Scott and husband Walter, Mary Stefanick and husband Albert, Jean Hubchenko and Celia Weith a husband Kenneth; as wells as several nieces and nephews, two great nieces and one great nephew. A blessing service was held Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale. Interment with military honors, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: William Dougherty, Patrick Burke, Michael Scott and Scott Carotenuto. Friends called Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were sent to the Disabled and Homeless Veterans Association.
