Lucy M. Bifano, 90, of Carbondale, PA. and a resident of the Carbondale Nursing Home for the past three years, died Wednesday morning, August 12, 2009 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. She was the wife of the late Samuel J. Bifano who died in 1994. Born April 23, 1919 in Plains, PA., she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Venaranda (DelGuidice) Tardio.She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale and was a retired secretary at the Bureau of Employment Security in Scranton, PA. She formerly worked as a secretary for the Carbondale Redevelopment Authority and in Carbondale City Hall for two mayors.She is survived by two sons: John Bifano and wife Lucille of Cape Coral, FL. and Robert Bifano and wife June of Jermyn, PA.; three grandchildren: Christopher Bifano, Lea Bifano-Vozzella and Katie Bifano; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by three brothers: Joseph, John and Louis Tardio; two sisters: Rose Vitali and Gloria Elko.The funeral was held Monday, August 17, 2009 at 8:30 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Monsignor David L. Tressler, pastor. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Christopher Bifano, Jerry Tolerico, Joseph and David Cerra.
