Lois G. Jones, 89, a resident of the Forest City Nursing Home, Forest City, PA. and formerly of Clifford, PA., died Friday afternoon, May 15, 2009 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, PA. She was the wife of the late William D. Jones who died in August 13, 1971. Born April 23, 1920 in Herrick Twp., PA., she was the daughter of the late Fred and Edna Hallstead Churchill.Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a nurse at the Clarks Summit State Hospital.She was a member of the Welsh Hill Congregational Church in Uniondale, PA., the Durcus Circle and the Ladies Auxillary of the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company.She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds. She is survived by one daughter: Marlene Innanen of Clifford, PA.; one grandson: Fred Hammen and wife Amy of Scranton, PA.; one sister-in-law: Edra Bell a resident of the Forest City Nursing Home; nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by one daughter: Charlotte Hammen; one brother: William Churchill; one sister: Hulda Cole.The funeral was held Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 7:00 PM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Dundaff and Main Streets, Clifford, with the Rev. Jay Best, pastor of the Community Bible Church, Heart Lake, PA., officiating. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford.
