Linda M. Canfield, 79, of South Gibson, PA, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at home after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, Doyal J. Canfield. They were married on June 23, 1962.
Born May 21, 1941 in Gelatt, PA, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Bernice Pickering Potter.
As a young woman Linda began her career working at the former Harford Grocery Store and later at Houlihan's Hardware in New Milford, PA. She was later employed in the cafeteria at the Blue Ridge School District. Linda was a member of the Susquehanna County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the New Milford United Methodist Church and attended the South Gibson United Methodist Church.
Linda enjoyed researching her family's history and made several books on its lineage. She was an avid collector, but was especially fond of her Avon collection. Her other interests included knitting, crocheting, ceramics and tending to her flower beds.
She is survived by two children: Kevin J. Canfield and wife, Rusty of South Gibson, PA and Kerin J. Welch and husband, Charles of New Milford, PA; a sister: Carol Patrick of New Milford, PA; seven grandchildren: Julie, Joe, John, Phillip, Jake, Tracee and Leslie; four great grandchildren: Julian, Jackson, Cody and Reginald; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister: Agnes Grant and a brother: Floyd Potter.
The funeral was held Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA, with Rev. John Shaffer, pastor of the South Gibson United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment, Gelatt Cemetery, Gelatt, PA.
