Linda L. Blank, R.N., age 65, of Greenfield Township, PA., died Sunday afternoon, April 17, 2011 at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, PA. Born September 24, 1945 in Peckville, PA., she was the daughter of the late Fred, Jr. and Louise (Owens) Blank. After graduating from Pittston School of Nursing, she went to work at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton as a Registered Nurse. She then moved on to work the Emergency Department at Methodist Hospital, Philadelphia. She rounded out her nursing career at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. Her rapport with the staff and doctors at every facility she worked at was second to none. She was highly respected in her field of emergency medicine and her career of nursing. She was a member of the East Benton United Methodist Church. She was affectionately known to all as Aunt Linda and could be found many weekends scrap booking and putting together albums for her family. In addition, she also was an avid cross stitcher and enjoyed wood craft painting. She enjoyed traveling and her favorite destination was Ireland. Linda was a huge animal lover. Her pets were her companions and brought her great joy. Her greatest joy in life was her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by them. The family would like to thank the staff of Marian Community Hospital and the Carbondale Nursing Home for their care and compassion given to Linda. She is survived by three brothers: Randy Blank and wife Bev of Greenfield Township, PA., William Blank, Sr. and wife Jane of Greenfield Township, PA. and Larry Blank, Sr. of Whites Crossing, PA.; six nieces and nephews: Randi, Tressa, Diana, Larry, Lonnie and William, Jr.; two great nieces and nephews:Tyler and Kiralynn; cousins and aunts. She was preceded in death by one brother: Fred Bud Blank, III. The funeral was held Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA., with the Rev. Arthur Davis, pastor of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Scranton, PA., officiating. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford, PA. Pallbearers: Larry Blank, Lonnie Blank, William Blank, Jr., Howard Evans, Charles Lubash and Nate Zaleski. Friends called Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were sent to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp, PA. 18411.
