Obituary

Lewis J. Meek age 69, of 293 Canaan Street, Carbondale died unexpectedly Friday night, July 5, 2002 at home. Born February 8, 1933 in Carbondale, PA. He was the son of the late Harry J. Meek and Beatrice P. Lewis-Meek, RN. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served as an aerial photographer. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the SEC NAV Commendation Medal. He was a graduate of Ben Franklin High School class of 1951. He attended the University of Scranton. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a police officer in Washington, D.C. and also as a census taker. He was a member of MENSA. He was an avid model builder and weapon collector. He enjoyed photography, painting, and drawing. He is survived by two daughters: Nancy Jean Kresock of Moscow, PA., and Susan Ann Meek of Jermyn, PA. one son: William Lewis Meek of Carbondale, PA.; Two Half sisters: Mariam McCormick and Lanie Meek both of Oregon; 3 Grandchildren; Aunts Uncles; Cousins; Nieces Nephews A memorial service was held Saturday, July 13, 2002 at 8:00 pm from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale with Rev. Barry Jaggars, Pastor of the New Life Assembly of God Church officiating. Cremation took place at the Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald. Interment, Mother Of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Twp. Viewing was held Saturday, July 13, 2002 from 7:00 pm until service time.
