Leonard Robert "Bob" Perri, 91, died peacefully at Geisinger Community Medical Center on Sunday, June 19, 2016, surrounded by his family.
Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Joseph and Amanda Smith Perri.
Bob was a 1942 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and proudly served in the United States military for over 26 years, including tours in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He subsequently served in and retired from the Coast Guard.
Bob loved to travel and continued to fly to Vegas and Myrtle Beach even into his 90's. He enjoyed Broadway shows and shared his love of theatre by gifting his family with season tickets to Scranton's Broadway Theatre throughout the years. He always looked forward to Sunday dinners with his family, where his sister provided plenty of Italian food and his nieces and nephews provided plenty of drama.
He was preceded in death by brother, Nate and is survived by his sister, Patricia Tomaine Morell, to whom he was like a father, and sister-in-law, Josephine Perri. Bob was a thoughtful, supportive and loving son, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was especially generous to his numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and god-children. He was an extremely kind hearted and gentle man who would help anyone in need, never expecting anything in return.
The family would like to give special thanks to his friends, Matt and Pat Georgetti who were never too busy to visit or take him out to dinner. The family is also grateful for the extreme kindness shown by the staff a Geisinger CMC during Bob's final days.
