Leona M. "Lee" Hancock, 84, of South Gibson, PA, died Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Forest City Nursing Home, Forest City, PA. She is the wife for 67 years of Ervin R. Hancock. They were married August 25, 1948. Born May 7, 1932 in Susquehanna, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Lona Russell Hughes. Leona was a faithful member of the South Gibson United Methodist Church and worked in the cafeterias at the Mountain View School District and Elk Mountain Ski Resort. She was very artistic and enjoyed crafts, ceramics and painting. She also enjoyed, bowling, shopping, and eating out at restaurants. She made the holidays very special with her love of decorating the house and spending time with her family. Her family would like to thank Dr. Neal Davis & staff, the staffs at the Forest City Nursing Home and Aseracare Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care to Leona during her illness. She is survived by: one daughter: Sally Marquez of South Gibson, PA; three sons: Gerald Hancock and wife Rose of Victor, NY, Kenneth Hancock and wife Gloria of South Gibson, PA and Jeffrey Hancock and wife Lisa of Nicholson, PA; one daughter-in-law: Terri Hancock of Olyphant, PA; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one sister: Florence Bennett of South Montrose, PA; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son: Donald Hancock; one brother: Wendell; four sisters: Annabelle, Margaret, Marion and Eleanor. A memorial service was held Friday, August 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the South Gibson United Methodist Church, South Gibson, PA, celebrated by Pastor Marge McCarty, pastor. Friends called Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements were under the care of the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA In lieu of flowers, memorial donations were sent to the South Gibson United Methodist Church.
