Leon J. Striefsky, age 48, of Rear 60 Plum Avenue, Carbondale, PA. died Friday evening, April 18, 2003 at the Moses Taylor Skilled Nursing Facility, Scranton, PA. after a lengthy illness. His wife is the former Kathleen Kaczmarcik.
Born June 7, 1954 in Carbondale, PA. He is the son of Antoinette (Carachilo) Striefsky of Carbondale and the late Leo Striefsky.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carbondale. He was a 1972 graduate of Scranton Preparatory School. He worked at Affiliated Food Warehouse, Scranton for 17 years.
He was past President of the Carbondale Chapter of UNICO National where he also served as District Regional Governor. He was in a Monday and Wednesday night bowling league at Valley Lanes, Childs, PA. He also bowled a perfect 300 game. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Tavern al a Green Golf League, Carbondale.He was also a Certified Class A member of the Professional Club Makers Society.
He enjoyed all sports. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his one niece and five nephews.

He is survived by two sisters: Linda Striefsky-Carlson of Cleveland Heights, OH. and Lisa Levine of Carbondale, PA.; one brother: Paul Striefsky of Somers Point, NJ.; Numerous Aunts Uncles; 1 Niece; 5 Nephews and Several Cousins
The funeral was held Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at 9:00 am from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Russell Motsay, pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.
Friends called Monday, April 21, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-10.
Pallbearers: Dr. Paul Tomcykoski, Stanley Striefsky, Robert Novajosky, Dominick Carachilo, Joseph Carachilo, John Vitosky, Joseph Palutis and Don Paul Palutis (all Cousins).
