Lawrence R. Allen, 82, RR1, Nicholson, PA., died Saturday morning, July 4, 2009 at home. He was the husband of the former Margaret Williams. They were married on August 13, 1949.Born April 23, 1927 in Nicholson, PA., he was the son of the late Curtis and Pearl (Ransom) Allen.He was a graduate of Harford High School and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a self employed dairy farmer for most of his life and retired from the transportation department at Clarks Summit State Hospital, Clarks summit, PA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed flying airplanes and watching baseball. He is survived by two sons: Ronald Allen of Nicholson, PA. and Donald Allen and wife Lisa of Nicholson, PA.; two daughters: Diane Pennay and husband Merle of New Smyrna Beach, FL. and Betsy Walters and husband Edward of Clarks Summit, PA.; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by one sister: Stella Allen.The funeral was held Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 11:30 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Dundaff and Main Streets, Clifford, PA., with Pam Cuff, Chaplain of Traditional Hospice, officiating. Cremation followed. Inurnment, Clifford Valley Cemetery, Clifford. Friends called Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 7-9 PM.
