LaVonne Misner, 74, of Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at home after a brief illness. Born March 22, 1941 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harley and Evelyn Rabinsky Misner. LaVonne was a 1959 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and received her associates degree from Penn State University and her bachelors degree from Marywood College. She had been a member of the Penn State Alumni Association and was a 55 year employee of Lockheed Martin in Archbald, PA. LaVonne was a loving and generous sister and aunt to her family. She is survived by five sisters: Lorraine Lewis and husband Bob of Carbondale, PA, Linda Galko of Carbondale, PA, Patricia Calabro and husband Chip of Carbondale, PA, Nancy Becker of Carbondale, PA and Cynthia Stephens and husband Bob of Raleigh, NC; niece and nephews: Jennifer Lewis, Harley Lewis, Robert Lewis, Jr., Stephanie McDonald, Sandra Ziegler, Vince Galko, Gwen Barber, Kelly Robertson, Chip Calabro, Jr., Steve Calabro, Chris Calabro, Niki McLamb, Phil Cicco, Cody Stephens and Kyle Stephens who was also her godchild; numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: Tony Galko and Bob Becker. The funeral was held Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with services at 2:00 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church, 20 North Church Street, Carbondale, officiated by Rev. Doug Posegate, pastor. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart, PA.
