Laura Nelson, 72, of Carbondale, PA, died Friday, February 9, 2024 in the emergency room at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA, after being stricken ill at home.

Born October 9, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Addison Kimble and Augusta Marie Nielson Young.

Laura had resided in Carbondale since 1994 and attended the Peckville Assembly of God Church. She loved listening to her vinyl record collection, especially Elvis Presley who was her favorite musician. Laura enjoyed visits to the senior center where she cherished the time with friends making arts and crafts.

She is survived by two daughters: Jamie Mulholland and husband, Travis of Carbondale, PA and Christine Morley of Carbondale, PA; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother: Patrick Young of Cranford, NJ; three sisters: Theresa Young of Brooklyn, NY, Helen Kane of Carbondale, PA and Gail Incigeri of Virginia; her close friend, Josephine Evans of Carbondale, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Deis'ree Marie Dunn.

The funeral was held Friday, February 16, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with Rev. Ernest Drost, senior pastor of the Peckville Assembly of God Church, officiating. Cremation followed.

Viewing hours were held Friday, February 16, 2024 from 4-7 p.m.
