Kenneth D. Woodruff, age 73, of Union Dale, PA., died late Tuesday evening, December 22, 2009 at the Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. His wife of 47 years is the former Carol Butler.
Born September 22, 1936 in Corning, NY., he was the son of the late William K. and Diana (Fenton) Woodruff.
Ken was a graduate of Corning Academy High School in Corning, NY. He received a masters degree in Geology from the College of Wooster, Wooster, OH. and a masters degree from Lehigh University. Ken was employed at the University of Delaware in the Geological Survey Department for 26 years. He was a hydrogeologist with Lockheed Martin/EPA in Edison, NJ. for the last 10 years. He was a member of the Welsh Hill Bethel Congregational Church, Union Dale, PA.
Ken was an outdoor and nature enthusiast who loved fishing, hiking, and bird watching. He was also a gifted pianist who brought joy to others through his music.
Ken is survived by three daughters: Marsha Wiegand and husband Robert of Lancaster, PA., Valerie Woodruff of Wilmington, DE. and Barb Snow and husband John of Lincoln, NE.; one son: Brad Woodruff and wife Michelle of Medford, MA.; one sister: Pamela Bennett and husband Wayne of Corning, NY.; one brother: William Woodruff of Oregon; three grandchildren: Lydia and Eden Woodruff and Shannon Snow; several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were under the care of the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, PA.
