Kennedy P. O'Brien, 79, a resident of the Carbondale Nursing Rehab Center, Carbondale, PA, died Saturday morning, February 15, 2014 at the Nursing Home. He was the husband of the former Doris L. Rosada. They were married on May 30, 1964.
Born July 18, 1934 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas and Grace Ann Hogland O'Brien.
He was a former resident of Allied Terrace in Scranton and previously resided in Lakewood, New Jersey for many years. He was a retired chemist having worked at Allied Signal in Morristown, New Jersey. He was on the Catholic faith and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by two daughters: Kimberly Benjamin and husband Bob of Eynon, PA, and Lisa O'Brien of Wayne, NJ.; one granddaughter: Nicole M. Benjamin; one sister: Helen Ann O'Brien of College Point, NY.; nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service was held Monday, February 17, 2014 at 2:00 PM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with Rev. Joseph Sitko, pastor of St. Mary's Church, Waymart, PA, officiating. Military honors were conducted by the Simpson VFW Honor Guard. Cremation followed the service.
