Obituary

The family of Kelli Ann Zenick is saddened to announce her passing on February 24th, 2023 at Baylor Grapevine Hospital in Southlake, Texas. Kelli was born February 26, 1971 in Lewiston, New York to Gerald J. and Beverly Docteur. She is survived by her loving husband John Zenick, their children John W. Zenick, Jake Zenick, and Katherine Zenick, her parents, Gerald and Beverly Docteur of Vestal, NY, her twin sister Rose Boynton (Mike) of West Kingston, RI, her mother-in-law, Janet Zenick of Farmington CT, her sister-in-law Tracey Van Hoof (Jim), of Jupiter, FL, her brother-in-law Mark Zenick, of Simsbury, CT and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Idio and Rose (Talarico) Grazzini, paternal grandparents, Mildred and John Docteur, and father-in-law, Walter Zenick.

Being born alongside her twin sister helped shape her formative years and ultimately resulted in a lifelong determination to persevere, assist, and most importantly, implore a sarcastic and undeniable passion to every battle she threw herself into. After graduating from Bethlehem Central High School, Delmar, NY, in 1989 and from Le Moyne College, Syracuse, NY, in 1993, with a BS in Accounting/Management Information Systems, she was employed for many years by PwC in Boston, MA, and Hartford, CT as a Certified Information Systems Audit (CISA) Manager. It was in Connecticut where she met the love of her life, her husband John, the only person that could make her laugh and challenge her wit with just a joke and a smile. Upon moving from Tampa, FL to Southlake, TX to support her husband's career, she became involved in many community activities where she proceeded in an unstoppable manner, ensuring that the just and proper decisions were carried out in all her affiliated organizations. Her community roles included chairing the educational board of Carroll Independent School District and working as a USA Swimming Official. She spent most of her time tending to her kids, her husband, and the families of Lakeside Aquatic Club, North Texas Nadadores, and Southlake Carroll swim teams.

Kelli lived life with a loving heart, extensive energy, quick wit, strong opinions, an infallible desire to help, and a beautiful, pervasive sense of humor. With her fierce resolution and strength, she overcame a severe brain hemorrhage in 2018. Upon waking up from her surgery, the first thing she said to her kids was "don't miss school", demonstrating her impenetrable will and persistent demeaner. In the four years following her hemorrhage, she continued to enjoy gardening, reading, crafting, knitting, and sewing. We will forever treasure the handmade quilts, photo albums, and cookbooks she loved to share with family. To know her was to love her. Through it all, nevertheless, she persisted.

The family would like to thank all those who inspired Kelli from the swimming and tennis teams, her neighbors, PwC family, LeMoyne College and BCHS communities, and the Ohio State Swim & Dive Buckeye family for their expression of love and encouragement. Thank you to everyone for the support, prayers, and outreach that we have received. We will forever be grateful to the families that took time out of their schedules to collaborate in the form of donations, letters, texts, and prayers.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 31385 County Route 4, Cape Vincent (Rosiere), NY, celebrated by Rev. Robert E. Scully, S.J., LeMoyne College, Syracuse, NY. Interment, Sand Bay Cemetery, Cape Vincent, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kelli's name were mailed to her alma mater, Le Moyne College, POB 527, Syracuse, NY 13214, for the family to designate at a later date.

Arrangements were entrusted to Kelli's cousins at Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA
