Keith Joel Thompson 02/24/1964 - 02/08/2017
You are the love of my life and my best friend. I will cherish all our memories and love you forever.
Keith (Keeter) Thompson was one in a million. He was an incredibly loving husband, father, step-father grand-father and God-father. He was the best brother and uncle. His many friends were considered his family. If you knew him, you loved him. If you just met him, you wanted to know him. He was one of the most outstanding men you could have ever met. He was truly loyal, honest, and humble. His door was always open, what was his was yours, and he had a voice of reason. He had the most incredible sense of humor. His family and friends were the most important parts of his life. He had the biggest heart, biggest smile, and the best bear hugs. He is and always will be truly loved.
Keith was truly a master of many skills. He travelled all over the world with Body & Soul and worked as a sound man for the band. He was always fondly remembering the times he spent with his brother-in-law Tommy, sister Ciel, and family, and all the members of the band. He often told stories of living in St. Thomas. He was a master diver and loved talking about celebrating his niece Tanya's birthday with the lobsters they caught…boy do they have huge lobster in St. Thomas. He was a master carpenter and could build anything, if you drive around the local area, I guarantee you that you have seen something Keith had a hand in building. He worked with many crews over the years; many of the men he worked with became his brother. He loved them all and spoke of them often.
Keeter, as he was known by many, loved his friends and family, but he really loved helping people. He would do anything for you. Often if he knew you needed something, he would just do it without even telling you. He never knew a stranger. He'd give you the shirt off his back, literally… He was a true friend.
Keith was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Coccodrilli Thompson; his father, Richard E. Thompson; his brother-in-law, Thomas W. Birkett; his sister, Terry Decker-Williams; and his niece, Junine Birkett.
Keith is survived by his loving wife, Twalla Wahl; his son, Charles Dougher and light of his life, his grandson Jayden Dougher; his step-children Kyle Wahl, Kurt Wahl, and Kortni Wahl; his sister Ciel Birkett and nephew Jamie Birkett; his brothers Rick Thompson and wife Mary Ann Thompson; Mark Thompson and his wife Ellen Thompson and Lee Thompson and his wife Julie Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Thank you to Dale Piwowarski for all your help and support, Keith really loved you. Thank you to Judy and Sarah for coming to help me put the house back in order. Thank you to the Scott Township Hose Company, Scott Township Police, Cottage Hose Ambulance, and Lackawanna County Deputy Coroner Jesse VanDeusen for your tremendous response and support, you went above and beyond for Keith and we will always remember.
