Karen M. Petrilak, 55, of Clifford, PA., died Monday morning, March 1, 2010 at home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Michael J. Petrilak. They were married 23 years. Born April 11, 1954 in Scranton, PA., she was the daughter of the late Aloysius and Shirley (Phillips) Coggins. She was a graduate of Abington Heights High School and grew up in Chinchilla, PA. Prior to her illness, she had been employed as a waitress at the Mountain View Restaurant in Clifford for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Simpson, PA. She always enjoyed knitting afghans and found comfort in doing so during her illness. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by one son: Joshua Petrilak of Clifford, PA.; two daughters: Nicole Welk of Clifford, PA and Shelley Bixby and husband Paul of Clifford, PA.; four grandchildren: Corbin Smith, Julian Bixby, Liam Kase and Sophia Welk; six sisters: Joyce Malinauskas of Clarks Summit, PA., Patty Kipp of Scranton, PA., Linda Hill of Clarks Summit, PA., Debbie Wilbur of Ashville, NC., Allison Kraycer of Miami Beach, FL. and Kathy Hoffman of Mill City, PA.; several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 9:45 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 18 Airport Road, Clifford, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Michael's Church, 46 Midland Street, Simpson, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Sitko, pastor. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford. Friends called Friday, March 5, 2010 from 4-8 PM. Pallbearers: Michael Petrilak, Michael Auguiar, Tony Malunakous, Renny Mariotti, Bill Weeks and Tom Hill.
