Karen Calafut Mongovan, 83, of Whites Crossing, PA, died Monday, February 17, 2025 at Allied Hospice, Scranton, PA, after a brief illness.

Born in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Arthur Calafut. Over the years, Karen was employed by the local garment industry, the Gentex Corporation, Birch Hills Assisted Living and Marian Community Hospital.

She is survived by her husband: Paul Mongovan; a brother: John Calafut; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her sister: Rose Peduto, her twin sister: Carol Thomas Speicher; and her many beloved pets.
