Karen Alice White, age 65, of Dundaff, PA., passed away Saturday morning, October 1, 2011 at the Northeast Pennsylvania Hospice at Regional Hospital, Scranton, PA., after a sudden illness. She was the wife for 48 precious years to Cliff White.
Born August 3, 1946 in San Diego, CA., she was the daughter of the late Gunnar and Rosena (Trotter) Nielsen.
Karen filled many roles in her life. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and loving friend to many. She was a teacher, expert cook, wonderful gardener, interior decorator, avid animal lover, gifted peacemaker, nurse and traveler. She ran several businesses and worked at Trane Company, Dunmore, PA., for 17 years. Karen was the glue to a large rowdy family and will be greatly missed. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Forest City, PA. and the Order of the Eastern Star, Union Dale, PA.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses at the Regional Hospital, Northeast Pennsylvania Hospice and the paramedics of the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company for all of their help and support during this time.
She is survived by five children: Theresa White and partner Toni, John C. White and wife Karen, Jamie White and girlfriend June Reed, Erin Weldon and husband Dave and Erica Ta Harris and husband Matthew; eleven grandchildren: Melanie, Eric, Carin, David, Jessie, Deven, Christopher, Kiersten, Morgan, Nicholas and Reagan; two great grandchildren: Brianna and Nathan Clifford; one sister: Frances Browder; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother: Gunnar Nielsen.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Company, 1035 State Route 106, Clifford, PA., with Rev. Donald Schaible, pastor of Christ Episcopal Church, Forest City, officiating.
Friends called Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the fire hall.
Cremation arrangements were under the care of the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
