Josephine "Joann" Phillips, 76, of Carbondale, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, PA. Prior to living in Carbondale with family, she resided in Archbald, PA, with her husband, Robert E. "Bucky" Phillips who preceded her in death on March 16, 2018.

Born June 29, 1946 in Astoria, NY, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Elizabeth Polednak Woytowich.

Josephine was a seamstress for many years and later retired from the Valley View School District's cafeteria staff. In her recent years, she enjoyed books, puzzles, crosswords and spending time with her beloved family and her fur baby cat, Missy.

She is survived by five siblings: Ted Woytowich and wife, Terri of Port Richie, FL, Rosemary Fox of Mayfield, PA, Michael Woytowich and wife, Joan of Wallingford, CT, Kathleen Woytowich of Carbondale, PA, and Julie Ogozaly of Carbondale, PA; eight nieces and nephews: Nicole Fox and husband, Matthew Jenkins of La Mesa, CA, Ashley Fox of Atlantic Beach, FL, Robert Ossig and wife, Shannon of Austin, TX, Stephanie Ogozaly of Willow Grove, PA, Carly Petrini and husband, John of Old Forge, PA, Collin Fox of Philadelphia, PA, Andrew Woytowich and wife, Sam of Newport Richie, FL and Richard Woytowich and wife Alison of Traverse City, MI; four great-nieces and great-nephews: Chase and Cole Petrini, Bella Woytowich and Nolan Ryan Woytowich.

She was also preceded in death by a brother: Robert Woytowich; and a sister: Theresa Ossig.

A private funeral Mass was held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald, PA. Interment followed in the parish cemetery, Archbald, PA.
