Obituary

Joseph A. Uhrin, of Greenfield Township, PA, died peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at home. Born in Dickson City, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Liptak Uhrin. Joe was a dairy farmer and also served in the army during the Korean War. After his military service he continued farming until the time of his illness. The family wishes to extend deepest appreciation to the nurses and staff of Home Health Care Hospice and also special thanks to Joe's nephews for their excellent care and support. He is survived by three sisters: Betty Uhrin, whom he resided with, Margaret Opeil of Tompkinsville, PA and Pearl Mizerak of Greenfield Township, PA; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: Andrew Mizerak and Francis Opeil, Sr.; a niece: Carol Dippel. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, Scott Township, PA, celebrated by Rev. Michael J. Kirwin, pastor. Interment with military honors, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Andrew Mizerak, Francis, Andrew, Thomas, Robert and Gerald Opeil - all nephews. As per Joe's request there was no viewing. Arrangements were conducted by Shifler-Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Clifford, PA.
