Joseph J. Striefsky, 66, of Tafton, PA, and formerly of River Vale, NJ, died Monday, July 24, 2023 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Kym M. (Jones) Striefsky. They were married April 4, 1987.

Born April 29, 1957 in Carbondale, PA, and raised in Simpson, PA, he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Mudrick) Striefsky.

Joe was a 1975 graduate of Fell High School, Simpson, PA, and attended Mansfield University. Prior to his retirement in 2022, he was Vice President of Operations for Select Contracting, Inc. in Carlstadt, NJ. for over 20 years.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating and was a member of the Lake Wallenpaupack Yacht Club.

He is also survived by one son: Sean Striefsky of South Korea; two grandchildren: Szilas Barragen and Gianna Coughenour; one brother: Stanley Striefsky and wife, Karen of Jermyn, PA; one sister: Marilyn Thornton and husband Joseph of Richmondale, PA; one sister-in-law: Stacy Wajs of River Vale, NJ; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a son: Nicholas Striefsky; father-in-law: Walter V. Jones; mother-in-law: Carol A. Jones, and a brother-in-law: Walter V. Jones, II.

A viewing was held Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 3-6 p.m. with a memorial service at 5:30 p.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA.
