Obituary

Joseph Skasko, Jr., 75, a lifelong resident of Carbondale, PA, died Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA. His wife is the former Judy Peregrin. They were married Christmas Day in 1963. Born November 15, 1942 in Carbondale, he is the son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Jeanette Adams Skasko. Joe proudly served in the US Army 101st Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles" and worked for 30 years as a carpenter for Simplex Industries, Scranton, prior to his retirement. He enjoyed his trips to the casinos, watching NASCAR, especially the Earnhardt family and was an avid Yankees fan. He is survived by one son: Jay Skasko and companion Kris of Jessup, PA; one sister: Jeanette Kuna of Carbondale, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister: Anna Cortazzo and brother: Richard Skasko. A blessing service was held Monday, August 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Frank Conway, Neal Elko, Danny McCann, Shane Peregrin, Frank Kuna and Jerry Zitterman. Friends called Monday, August 27, 2018 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations were sent to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45250-0301.
