Joseph Oscar Shay, 72, Susquehanna, PA, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Barnes-Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, after an illness. He is survived by his wife the former Virginia Hallstead. Born August 18, 1944 in Susquehanna, he was the son of the late Oscar and Gertrude Harding Shay. Joe had been a proud self employed quarryman in the flagstone business for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he adored his grandchildren. He is survived by two step sons: Leroy Rogers and James Bishop both of Susquehanna, PA; 9 grandchildren: Natasha Bishop, Kevin Sylvester, Kristy Monks, Brooke Morrison, Angie, Christine, Mindy, Sandy and Vicky Rogers; 8 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Rose Marie Shay; a granddaughter: Jenny Rogers. As per Joe's request he was cremated and no services were held.
