Joseph "Stogie Joe" Sadusky, 81, of Carbondale, PA, died Monday, August 14, 2017 at the hospice unit at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. He is survived by his wife, the former Sharon Platzer. They celebrated 57 years of marriage on February 20th. Born July 17, 1936 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Mildred Yourskowski Sadusky. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and was a veteran of the Army. Before his retirement, he was employed at Simpson Stone Quarry. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, Carbondale, and the American Legion Post 221, Carbondale. Sharon would like to thank all her friends and family for their outpouring of love and support. She is especially grateful to the nurses, aides and physicians for their compassionate care to Joe during his illness. He is survived by three sisters: Jean Varga and daughter Sonya of Ohio, Ruth Micklick and husband Peter and their children: Christine, Laura and Gregory of Coatesville, PA and Ann Brough and husband Frederic and their children: Frederic, Stacy and Joyce of Liverpool, NY; a sister-in-law: June Brennan and her children Michael, Patty and Colleen of Carbondale, PA; nephews and godchildren: Tim Brennan and Marty Kilhullen; his feline buddies: Leroy, Amos and Andy. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law's: Robert Platzer, Julius Varga and Charles Brennan; his sister-in-law: Shirley Kilhullen. The funeral was held Friday, August 18, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. James Price, CP., pastor. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.
