Joseph Russomanno, Jr., age 69, a resident of Greenfield Township, PA. for the past 15 years and formerly of Brooklyn, NY., died early Sunday morning, August 14, 2011 at the VNA Hospice Unit, Scranton, PA. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, the former Nadine A. Pipitone. Born May 31,1942 in Manhattan, NY., he was the son of the late Joseph G., Sr. and Elsie (Bushnarda) Russomanno. He was a graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School, Bronx, NY. and served in the Army from 1960 to 1963 in Pirmasens, Germany with the Company A Signal Corp. He was a retired police officer for the New York Police Department after 20 years of service and also worked for 15 years with the Trump Organization, Brooklyn, NY. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 63, the Albert H. Crane American Legion Post 221, Carbondale, PA., the Carbondale Masonic Lodge 249 and the Valley of Scranton Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. Joe enjoyed spending winters in Davenport, FL. and loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. His greatest joy was the companionship of his dog Patches who he missed very much. He is survived by one daughter: Pamela Russomanno-Callahan husband Todd of Shakopee, MN.; two sons: Joseph and Michael Russomanno, both of Eden Prairie, MN.; three grandsons: Dominic and Vincent Callahan and Nickolas Russomanno; one granddaughter: Carmella Callahan; one sister: Lola Michelini of Bayport, NY.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A blessing service was held Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the chapel at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Honors were accorded by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 63, Carbondale Masonic Lodge 249 and Military honors were accorded by the Simpson VFW Honor Guard. Cremation arrangements were under the care of the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were sent to The Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Township, PA 18411.
