Joseph T. Larkin, Jr., 54, of Carbondale, PA, died Wednesday morning, March 18, 2015 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Interstate 81in Harford Township, PA.
Born June 24, 1960 in Carbondale, he was the son of Florence Fortuner Larkin of Carbondale and the late Joseph T. Larkin, Sr.
Joe was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, a charter member of the Carbondale Trinity Club and a social member of the Moxie Club all of Carbondale. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed to cook. He was a devoted son, brother, father, uncle and friend who was loved by everyone he met. Joe was a very generous person who never turned anyone away who needed help.
He was a finisher for Heavy Highway and Construction, Local 158 and was dedicated to whatever job he was on. It was with that same dedication he put towards his daughter Sarah, who he loved above all else. He leaves a giant hole in everyone's heart.
He is survived by a daughter: Sarah Larkin a student at East Stroudsburg University; three sisters: Teresa, Susan and Amy Larkin all of Carbondale; a niece: Shea Smith; aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends and neighbors.
The funeral was held Monday, March 23, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. from the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 4 Morris Place at Terrace Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. John C. O'Bell, pastor and Deacon Edward Casey. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Daniel Larkin, John Larkin, Matthew Larkin, Robert Fortuner, Joseph Cucura, Jeff Cerra, William Pope and Leonard Virbitsky.
Friends called Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 3-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were made to the family to assist Sarah with her college education.
