Joseph J. Jerry, Jr., 76, of Greenfield Township, Pa., died Saturday afternoon, August 5, 2006 at the Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA.
His wife is the former Genevieve (Jennie) Kresefski.
Born September 17, 1929 in Old Forge, PA., he was the son of the late Joseph J. Sr. and Susan (Federina) Jerry.
He was a member of St. Pius X Church in Royal, PA. He was a 1949 graduate of the Old Forge High School where he was selected the first All-State player. He also graduated from Villanova College where he was chosen to play pro football. He served in the Naval Reserves.
He was the owner operator, along with his son, of JJ Auto Sales in Uniondale, PA.
He is survived by one daughter: Roxanne and husband Paul Criscera of Greenfield Township, PA.; one son: Joseph J. Jerry, III. of Uniondale, PA.; one sister: Ruth Pilosi of Gouldsboro, PA.; one brother: William Jerry of Columbia, SC.; two granddaughters: Lisa Marie and Rachelle Criscera, both of Greenfield Township, PA.; Several Nieces Nephews
He was preceded in death by one daughter: Diane Jerry
The funeral was held Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at 9:30 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford, PA., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, Route 106, Royal, celebrated by Rev. Joseph Sitko, pastor of St. Lawrence Church, Great Bend, PA. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.
Friends called Tuesday, August 8, 2006 from 5-8 PM.
Pallbearers: Andrew Jerry, Robert Luscz, Joseph Talerico, Ronald Luszcz, Mark, Raymond, Phillip and Leonard Kresefski.
