Joseph Peter Gillott, 72, of Mayfield, PA., died Wednesday night, November 14, 2012 at Regional Hospital, Scranton, PA. He was the husband of the former Sandy Mosley. They were married on May 4, 1968.
Born April 4, 1940 in Carbondale, PA., he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary Talarico Gillott.
Prior to his retirement, he had been a self employed general contractor having owned and operated Gillott Construction and GG Kitchens. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and Yankee fan.
He is survived by two sons: Joseph Patrick Gillott and wife Kimberly of Forest City, PA. and Michael Gillott and finacee Amy of Mayfield, PA.; one daughter: Melissa Gillott-Egyed and husband Scott of Schwenksville, PA.; one brother: Patrick PJ Gillott, Jr. and wife Helen Marie of Jessup, PA.; one sister: Sarah Gillott of Carbondale, PA.; one grandson: Ethan Gillott; one nephew: Patrick PJ Gillott, III. of Peckville, PA.; one great niece: Gabriella Gillott; numerous cousins.
The funeral was held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 9:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Farview and 41st Streets, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Msgr. David L. Tressler, pastor. Entombment, St. Tikhon's Monastery, South Canaan, PA., with committal prayers conducted by V. Rev. John Kowalczyk, pastor of St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Church, Jermyn, PA. and Msgr. David L. Tressler.
Pallbearers: P.J. Gillott, III., Peter Paul Gillott, Joseph Fasciana, Sam Mosley, Scott Egyed, Jerry Docteur, Gene Staschak and Charles Scavo. Friends called Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 2-4 7-9 PM.
