Joseph M. Formosa, 75, of Carbondale, PA, died Thursday morning, September 8, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family after an illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Pamela Morrill on January 27, 2013. Born and raised on the Island of Malta, he was the son of the late Anthony and Nicolina Bezzina Formosa. Joe emigrated to the United States as a young man and worked in New York City as a doorman and maintenance man for the Building Service Employees International Union, Local 32BJ. In 2015, he moved to Carbondale from Astoria, NY, to be near his daughter and grandchildren. He was a proud member of the Maltese Center of Astoria. Joe will be remembered for his love of flannel shirts, bowling and soccer. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his faithful companion, Gizmo. Joe's family will forever cherish his generous heart, his quiet but genuine disposition and his ability to wear his emotions on his sleeve. He was always supportive of his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them. He is survived by two daughters: Nicole Andidora of Carbondale, PA and Jennifer Formosa of Bronx, NY; four grandchildren: Dominick Andidora, Jr., Kailene Castro, Angelina Andidora and Christian Adorno; several siblings in Malta; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews. The funeral was held Monday, September 12, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA.
