Joseph J. Carite, 86, of Carbondale, PA, died unexpectedly Friday, January 12, 2018 at home. His wife was the late Justine T. Graziano, who died January 10, 2008. They were married February 12, 1955. Born November 3, 1931 in Archbald, PA, he was the son of the late Paul and Concetta Musolino Carite. Joseph worked for over 30 years at Chamberlain Corporation, Scranton, PA, prior to his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the International Association of Machinist (IAM) and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. He loved restoring cars, hunting and was a handyman that was a jack of all trades. He was a hard worker who was proud that he and his wife educated all of their children for them to have the best life they possibly can. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He is survived by two daughters: Michele Churney and husband Michael of Jessup, PA and Mary Ann Rogan and husband Brian of Whites Crossing, PA; two sons: Joseph Carite, Jr. and wife Debbie of Olyphant, PA and Brian Carite of Mayfield, PA; five grandchildren: Danielle Zultewicz, Jonathan Rogan, Tiffany Kasarda, Heather Tolerico and Angeline Cerra; four great grandchildren: Antonella and Moorea Zultewicz and Caden and Mya Kasarda; one sister: Theresa Pollack of Peckville, PA; one brother: Paul Carite, Jr. of Montana, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two grandsons: Ryan Carite and Kyle Churney; two brothers: Dominick and Francis Carite. The funeral was held Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale. Entombment with military honors, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Michael Churney, Brian Rogan, Jonathan Rogan, Jamie Walsh, Andrew Zultewicz and Ross Tolerico.
