John E. Walsh, Sr., age 76, a resident of Uniondale, PA., since 1989 and formerly of New Jersey, died Sunday evening, August 13, 2006 at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, PA., after an illness.
His wife is the former Patricia Jones.
Born September 13, 1929 in Kearny, NJ., he was the son of the late John E. and Matilda (Schmidt) Walsh.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and was of the Catholic faith. He worked for 41 years and retired from Jersey Central Power Light Company/GPU in Morristown, New Jersey.
He was the past President Captain of Boonton Kiwanis Ambulance in Boonton, New Jersey. He started Big Brothers in Morris County, New Jersey. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Boonton, New Jersey and also the American Legion.
He enjoyed bowling, square dancing and was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. His family would like to say Ya done good, Pop.
He is survived by trhee daughters: Bonnie husband Glenn Bay of Uniondale, PA., Eileen Ruffollo of Boonton, NJ. and Tracey husband Lee Caraballo of Uniondale, PA.; two sons: John, Jr. wife Deborah Walsh of Columbia, NJ. and Timothy wife Lynda Walsh of Stroudsburg, PA.; two sisters: Jeanne Kilmer of Indiatlantic, FL. and Patty Gant of Mathias, WV.; one brother: Robert Hare of Barnegat, NJ.; 10 Grandchildren; 1 Great Granddaughter; 6 Nieces Nephews
The funeral was held Friday morning, August 18, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the Carmine J. Louis C. Parise Funeral Home, Inc., Farview 41st Streets, Carbondale, with the Rev. Leo Cummings, chaplain at Marian Community Hospital, officiating. Interment, Uniondale Cemetery.
Friends called Thursday, August 17, 2006 from 2-4 6-8 PM.
