Obituary

John W. Valentine, age 45, of Union Dale, PA., died unexpectedly Thursday, July 16, 2009 at home while working on the family farm. His wife is the former Christine Forbes. Born August 19, 1963 in Scranton, PA., he was the son of the late John K. and Frances J. (Augustine) Valentine. He was a 1981 graduate of Mountain View High School and after graduation took over the family dairy farm in Union Dale. He was a 3rd Degree Knight at the Knights of Columbus Forest City Counsel 3506. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and participated with his family in the North Jackson Ag 4H Club. He enjoyed hunting, family vacations at the beach and was a Dallas Cowboys fan. John was a very hard worker on the farm, but most of all was so proud of his children and loved his family very much. He is survived by one son: John W. Valentine, Jr.; one daughter: Samantha Valentine both at home; one sister: Brenda Napierkowski and husband Edward of Kingsley, PA.; one brother: Joseph Valentine and wife Lisa of Union Dale, PA.; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.He was preceded in death by one daughter: Brittany Valentine.The funeral was held Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 9:30 AM from the Shifler-Parise Funeral Home Cremation Services, Dundaff Main Streets, Clifford, PA., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, Route 106, Royal, PA., celebrated by Rev. William D. Campbell, senior priest. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA. Pallbearers: Emil Pawelzik, Gary Pawelzik, James Augustine, Ronald McWhirr, Robert Melville and Charles Black. Friends called Monday, July 20, 2009 from 5-8 PM.
